Obafemi Awolowo’s widow has joined her ancestors. Chief (Mrs) Hannah I. D. Awolowo would have clocked 100 years on November 25, this year.
The matriarch’s death occurred on Saturday, according to the family’s newspaper Nigerian Tribune.
Her husband Awolowo was the first premier of the Western Region in the First Republic. His aspiration to rule Nigeria never materialised until his death on May 9, 1987, at age 78.
