March 5 – Nigeria’s former president Olusegun Obasanjo will mark his 78th birthday. But the former leader who is still influential in politics has stated more than twice that he does not know the actual date of his birth. He adopted March 5.
Nine years ago, his son Gbenga said Obasanjo was up to 80 years. It is safe, therefore, to assume that the Ota farmer is close to 90 years now.
Even at 78, the Ebora Owu would be thanking God on March 5 for giving him long life. It was at that age that Obafemi Awolowo, Umaru Dikko, Emeka Ojukwu and Benjamin Adekunle left this world.
