196 Chibok ‘Girls’ Still Missing, 3 Years After

Nigeria never ceases to confound critics.

Three years after Boko Haram terrorists abducted 276 girls who were taking their final exams at Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, all has gone quiet in the country. No remembrance ceremony at official quarters! Not even the media remembers the evil that happened on the night of March 14, 2014.

At least 196 of the girls (who should be women now) are still unaccounted for. Some 21 of them were last year celebrated when they were “released” after negotiation with the terrorist group. Others had either escaped or were found wandering in Sambisa Forest, the hideout of Boko Haram, by soldiers of the JTF.

Dim voices of some NGOs were, however, heard on the third anniversary of the kidnappings.
