A criticism of Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari’s style of leadership has come from unexpected quarters: His wife Aisha has told the BBC Hausa Service that the 15million people who voted for her husband in 2015 were frustrated because he chose to work with those who didn’t even have voter cards.
She said she and others were afraid of a rebellion by 15million people.
The president’s wife was ostensibly making veiled references to people like Mamman Daura and Abba Kyari who work closely with Buhari. She spoke the minds of many former supporters of the president who have been alienated.
By expressing her frustration, Aisha Buhari has “technically” joined the “Wailers’ Club” — critics of the president.
Many look forward to the second part of the BBC interview which will be aired on Saturday.
