Former group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (circa 2010) Mohammed Barkindo was Thursday named secretary-general of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
OPEC made the announcement during its meeting in Vienna, Austria.
Barkindo will succeed Abdalla El-Badri of Libya whose tenure expired in 2013.
