Former Benue governor and senator George Akume has been reported dead. Rumours of the ex-governor’s death were said to have sparked tension in Tiv-land.
His family has not confirmed he was dead, at the time of filing this report. They have not refuted it either.
A similar rumour was circulated in December. The ex-governor appeared indisposed, however. He has not been seen in public since the year began. He visited India and Germany for an undisclosed ailment.
Akume was 62 last December.
