After the supplementary election held in Southern Ijaw LGA and some other polling units on Jan. 9, the final results of the Bayelsa State governorship contest have been announced.

INEC on Sunday announced that incumbent governor Seriake Dickson of the PDP polled 134, 998 votes to beat the APC candidate, ex-governor Timipre Sylva, who received 86, 852 votes.

Bayelsans first voted on Dec. 5, 2015.

Sylva’s camp has indicated the struggle will continue at the election petitions tribunal.
