APC Wins in Kogi, PDP Leads in Bayelsa

The APC of Nigeria has since won the governorship contest in Kogi State. But its candidate, Abubakar Audu, died a day after he voted, on Nov. 22.

The party has also garnered the most votes in the supplementary poll held Saturday. Now, the actual contest will shift to the courts: will James Fakeye or Yahaya Bello be governor?

In Bayelsa State, incumbent governor Seriake Dickson of the PDP has slugged it out with ex-governor Timipre Sylva of the APC. The final results should have been announced Sunday morning, but, due to violence and killings witnessed in certain areas,  voting continued on Sunday. The results may be announced on Monday.

Dickson is likely to win, but not by a wide margin. It was a tough fight especially in southern Ijaw areas.

Bayelsa is the home state of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
