Ebonyi APC Denies Rift, Says It Punished Moles

The Ebonyi State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied there was any crisis in the party. The recent disciplinary action meted out to identified moles in the party was responsible for the erroneous claims in some newspapers, it said.

In a statement signed by Hon. Ben Nwobasi and Pastor Victor Nnali Elem, state chairman and secretary respectively, APC recalled that the architects of the false report planted in the newspapers included a disgruntled former governorship aspirant who was duly suspended from the party for “gross misconduct, anti-party activities and rebellious behaviours”.

The party recalled that Chief Edeze, Prof. Francis Ibiam, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze, Mr Ephraim Eze and Mr Ngaji Nwodo were suspended as part of the resolutions reached at the 7th SWC meeting, noting that, before suspending the affected members for five months, the SWC considered and adopted the report of the party’s disciplinary committee, which recommended their suspension.

The statement added that the laid-down procedures for disciplining errant members of APC were duly observed and that the action also followed several petitions and allegations from members of their immediate constituencies which were investigated and referred to the appropriate authorities.

The disciplinary committee was set up at the 16th SWC meeting held on April 15, 2015.
