Nigeria’s minister of petroleum resources Diezani Alison-Madueke is being distracted by hoodlums operating in her home state Bayelsa. Armed kidnappers have seized her relation, Joseph Agama, after firing gunshots to scare away onlookers.
The criminals struck at Yanaka in Yenagoa in the early hours of Thursday.
The minister’s sister was recently kidnapped while she was going home from church. She was later released.
Kidnap for ransom has become a growing evil in the Niger Delta.
