The number of voters expected to vote in Rivers State on March 28 may be high, but the number of politicians in the PDP and APC among them is decreasing by the day. At the weekend, two PDP chieftains – Ibima Olunta and Goodfellow Bobmanuel – turned dead victims of suspected political assassinations.
In the previous week, APC chieftains were either killed or kidnapped. The brother of Governor Rotimi Amaechi was shot at.
Olunta (ward chairman of PDP in Abonema) and Bobmanuel (a candidate for councillor in Abonema) were killed in their homes.
The police have, as usual, promised to find their killers.
