Second Republic president of Nigeria Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari is 90 years old.
Messages of goodwill have been flowing to the nonagenarian from Sokoto State, Nigeria.
Of the five presidential candidates that contested election in 1979, only Shagari is alive. Others that have died: Aminu Kano of the PRP in 1983, Waziri Ibrahim of the GNPP, Obafemi Awolowo of the UPN in May 1987, and Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe of the NPP in May 1996.
