On Dec. 20 night, the Goodluck Jonathan presidential campaign was said to have realised N21.2billion from a fundraiser. However, investigations by Eyeway have revealed that the amount the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had collected, by Monday afternoon, had topped N60billion.
Even on Saturday night, more than N40billion was received, but the actual figure was hidden from the public, Eyeway was told. Instead, it was announced that N21.2billion was the total sum.
Many other government contractors, oil block owners and heads of government agencies have been donating secretly, Eyeway has learned.
