South African Team Halts Eagles’ March to Equatorial Guinea 2015

The match between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and the Bafana Bafana of South Africa ended Wednesday evening at 2-2. As a result, Nigeria’s chances of taking part in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be hosted by Equatorial Guinea in 2015 are almost closed.
It was a huge disappointment for the defending champions who needed a win to be assured of qualification. They will now wait for all pending matches to end, so they could be rated among the “best losers” and perhaps get a place in E/Guinea 2015.
The Eagles had defeated the Red Devils of Congo 2-0 on Nov. 15 on the Congolese soil.
The match with Bafana Bafana was played in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
Equatorial Guinea will host AFCON because Morocco refused to host the fiesta, citing Ebola fears.
