During a meeting to address the grievances of PDP senators, the ruling party hierarchy (NWC) promised the senators automatic return tickets. PDP governors most of whom aim to move to the Senate are threatening a showdown with the party and the presidency that gave the pledge to the senators.
Likely, the party and the presidency were merely playing politics: they did not promise to cancel the ward congresses held on Nov. 1, which the governors had hijacked. By the time the senators learn of a second betrayal, there would be no time to punish the president.
