President Goodluck Jonathan will be the “special guest of honour” on the occasion of the 2014 “annual retreat” of the South-South & South-East Traditional Rulers Forum to be held in Enugu from Oct. 23 to 25, the Forum has announced.
Curiously, the five governors of the south-east will be hosts while the governors of the south-south (the governor of Rivers State was listed last) will also be “special guests of honour”.
First-class traditional rulers in other parts of the country, including Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, Ooni of Ife Oba Sijuwade, Shehu of Borno Abba El-Kanemi and Oba of Lagos Akiolu have been invited as “special royal dignitaries/envoys”.
Likely, politics will be part of discussions at the retreat, only invited traditional rulers, elders and elder statesmen from the host area will participate in the event.
Needless to add, the president, almost certain to be the PDP consensus presidential candidate for the 2015 election, will receive the Forum’s endorsement during the “retreat”.
