September 18 is D-Day for the people of Scotland. They will vote at a referendum meant to determine their continued membership of the United Kingdom. Will they vote yes or no? Nobody knows yet; the polls cannot be trusted.
If they vote for independence, it will mark the end of a 307-year-old union. If they decide to stay in the UK, then, Prime Minister David Cameron will be all smiles.
Britain will be taking its own medicine: it backed Nigeria in the late 1960s to frustrate Biafra’s quest for self-determination.
