The EFCC has frozen the Zenith Bank account of Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State, citing illegal movement of funds. A report said more than N1billion of the diverted $2.1bn Dasuki funds was traced to the account.
The governor has described the action as illegal because, as a governor, he enjoys immunity from prosecution. The EFCC says immunity does not prevent investigations of bank accounts.
Governor Fayose, PDP, has been one of the prominent critics of the APC-led federal government and President Muhammadu Buhari.
Workers in Ekiti State have been on indefinite strike over non-payment of salaries.
