The Nigerian Online Trademark Journal Vol.1 No. 6 of 18th November 2021 fully displays an eNaira trademark attributed to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), bearing registration number NG/TM/O/2021/45315 and dated October 30, 2021, in Class 34.
Despite the CBN’s denial, the image suggests that CBN not only secured the eNaira trademark but did so through questionable methods.
CBN’s eNaira website is officially enaira.gov.ng, which is legitimate, but secretly linked to that is enaira.com, which is unauthorized.
This explains why while enaira.gov.ng is connected to the official domain network, enaira.com is falsely linked to it, risking users’ personal data to cyber threats.
The December 2023 Obazee Report, initiated by the president, criticized the eNaira and its rollout as fraudulent, echoing a prior Supreme Court ruling on March 3, 2023.
