Earthquake in Tanzania, Earth Tremor in Nigeria

An earthquake has struck in Tanzania, perhaps the first in sub-Saharan Africa.

At least 15 people have been reported dead and over 200 injured by the earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.7, which occurred in northern Tanzania on Saturday.

The quake, which destroyed buildings, struck close to the border with Uganda and Rwanda near Lake Victoria, but tremors were felt as far away as western Kenya.

On the morning of Sunday, September 11, 2016, an earth tremor was reported in Kwoi, Jaba LGA of Kaduna State, Nigeria.

Climate change is fingered as the cause of these unusual events in Africa.
