Veteran journalist Chuks Ehirim died early this morning — a day he should be celebrating his 50th birthday with friends and relations.
He died in Garki Hospital after a brief illness, the family said. But it was not really brief: Mr Ehirim had suffered a lung infection since his days as chairman of the NUJ, FCT chapter.
Two or three years ago, he lost his wife in an accident. He has since remarried.
Ehirim was an alumnus of UNN. He was in the department of Mass Communication from 1988 to 1992.
The news of Ehirim’s passage has left many speechless.
