Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari will be flown to London on Monday, June 6, to enable him consult an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist over an ear infection.
The president’s special adviser (media), Mr Femi Adesina, said in a statement on Twitter that the president would be going on a 10-day vacation to see the doctor and rest as well.
There has been speculation about Buhari’s health since he was unable to attend official engagements in Lagos and Ogniland in Rivers State. Adesina had denied his boss was sick.
In the Twitter announcement on Sunday, Adesina added that Buhari’s personal physician and an ENT specialist had attended to him in Abuja but recommended further diagnosis.
It’s not clear whether Buhari will hand over the affairs of state to Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo, who has represented him in recent official engagements.
