The death of the king of Benin Kingdom, Omo n’Oba n’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Erediauwa, has been announced. Governor Adams Oshiomhole made the announcement in a 450-word address.
The royal father died at the age of 92+. He was crowned as the 38th Oba of Benin on March 23, 1979.
It is believed the Oba died much earlier: in July 2015 or earlier. But as Benin tradition demands, an Oba’s death is not announced immediately. More rites are continuing.
