Dakuku Peterside Named DG of NIMASA

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Dr Dakuku Peterside as the director-general of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

A statement signed by Yetunde Sonaike, director, public relations, Ministry of Transportation, in Abuja on Thursday said that the appointment was with immediate effect.

Peterside was the governorship candidate of the APC in the April.11, 2015, governorship election in River State. He was also a member of the House of Representatives, 2011–2015.

The new DG of NIMASA holds a doctorate degree in Management Science from the University of Port Harcourt and an MBA in Business Administration. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences (B.MLS), specialising in haematology, from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology.

Transportation minister Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, likely, facilitated Peterside’s appointment, as he did the appointment of Ms Ibim Seminatari as the head of the NDDC. Both Peterside and Seminatari are his trusted allies: he was to succeed Amaechi as governor; she was Amaechi’s commissioner for information.
