Queen Elizabeth II Now Britain’s Longest-reigning Monarch

After 63 years, seven months, some days and hours on the throne, Queen Elizabeth II will, by 6pm Wednesday, emerge as Britain’s longest-reigning monarch.

The title was held by her great, great grandmother Queen Victoria.

Queen Elizabeth ascended the throne after her father’s death on February 6, 1952. She was 25 then. She is 89 now.
