The Authority, a Nigerian Daily, Makes Its Debut

October 1 — The future of newspapers may be bleak in the Internet Age, but more dailies are sprouting from the Nigerian soil. On October 1, The Authority is expected to make its humble bow.

The main financier of The Authority is Mr Ifeanyi Uba, a notable businessman from Anambra State, Nigeria.

Mr Madu Onuorah resigned from The Guardian to become its pioneer MD. Names of other veteran journalists linked to The Authority so far include Uche Ezechukwu, Malachy Uzendu, Chuks Akunna and Louis Achi. Others are former editors of defunct dailies like The Post Express and The Examiner.

The Authority promises to be a national newspaper headquartered in the nation’s capital Abuja.
