Mrs Patience Jonathan did not accompany her husband to Eagle Square, venue of the handing-over of power from Goodluck Jonathan to Muhammadu Buhari as president of Nigeria.
While Buhari and Osinbajo had their wives behind them, Jonathan was alone. But Jonathan hinted on Thursday, at the handing over of notes to Buhari, that his wife was busy with packing their belongings out of Aso Villa.
Patience’s absence set tongues wagging. She would have betrayed her emotions by sobbing at the venue, observers said.
