Don’t Speculate, Danjuma Warns after Visiting Jonathan

Gen. TY Danjuma was in Aso Villa Tuesday to engage President Goodluck Jonathan in a conversation behind closed doors.

Danjuma told journalists not to speculate.

Yet they did: Some said he went to discuss licences for his oil blocks that are due to expire. Some said  they discussed the elections and the possibility of another extension of polling dates. Some said he had gone to pledge his loyalty to Jonathan and to be assured that the PDP candidate in his home state Taraba was still his.

Danjuma was ADC to Nigeria’s first military leader Gen. JTU Aguiyi-Ironsi. He was chief of army staff in the 1970s. He became minister of defence under Obasanjo from 1999 to 2003. He is one of the richest people in Africa.

Danjuma also has a multi-billion naira foundation in his name.
He will be 78 in a few months.
