Nigeria’s opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), is set to organise a fundraiser for its 2015 elections. A meeting called by newly appointed director-general of the party’s presidential campaign, Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, has just ended in Abuja.
The party’s fundraiser is expected in a fortnight.
Gen. Muhammadu Buhari is the party’s flag-bearer; his running mate is Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
Already, the ruling PDP has raised funds for the campaigns. Its flag-bearer is President Goodluck Jonathan whose running mate is Vice-president Namadi Sambo.
On the night of Saturday, Dec. 20, it said it realised N21.2billion from donors. But insiders have confirmed that over N60billion was in the party’s kitty by Monday.
APC may not get a quarter of the funds in the PDP’s possession.
