Violent protests in Ougadougou has led to the toppling of President Blaise Compaore in Burkina Faso. The army chief has declared an emergency rule which will last one year.
The people are protesting Compaore’s intention to continue ruling after 27 years in power.
Compaore came to power in 1987 after toppling Thomas Sankara in a bloody coup.
