Nigerian singer Onyeka Onwenu reportedly died suddenly in Lagos this Tuesday, July 30.
She performed at the 80th birthday party of Pharmacist Stella Okoli, and, after the performance, she slumped.
An eyewitness said she was taken to Reddington Hospital, Lagos, where she was pronounced dead.
Born in January 1952, Ms Onwenu became a music sensation from the early 1980s. A multi-talented artiste, she was also a journalist, an actress, a songwriter and a politician.
Her home state is Imo, though she was born and raised in Port Harcourt.
