Saraki Agrees to Appear Before CCT on Tuesday

Senate president Bukola Saraki has accepted to appear before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on Tuesday, as demanded by the tribunal.

The CCT on Monday directed the inspector-general of police and other security agents to arrest and bring Saraki before it on Tuesday. It had given a similar directive last Friday, but Saraki failed to appear on Monday. His counsel Joseph Dawodu made efforts to delay his appearance by questioning the CCT’s constitution and appealing to the Fedral High Court.

Saraki is facing a 13-count charge of perjury at the CCT.

The Presidency says it has no hand in Saraki’s travails.
