Former head of service of the federation Mr Steve Oronsaye will be arraigned in court on Monday for stealing more than N700million while he was in “service”.
Nigeria’s EFCC announced it would deliver Oronsaye to the court.
Through fronts, Oronsaye allegedly awarded inflated contracts and afterwards creamed off more than N700m while he held sway during Obasanjo’s regime. Obasanjo is known to have praised Oronsaye.
Ironically, Oronsaye headed a panel that has been praised for recommending pruning of Nigeria’s civil service in order to cut costs.
The revelation has prompted many commentators to conclude that Nigeria is irredeemable, having been looted dry by a generation of thieves.
