Family Buries Ebola Heroine’s Ashes

Dr.-Ameyo-AdadevohAlthough the body of Dr Ameyo Stella Adedavoh, the heroine that prevented the index case for Ebola in Nigeria, Mr Patrick Sawyer, from infecting many Nigerians but got infected herself, had been cremated soon after her death on August 19, her family members will bury her ash in Lagos on Friday, September 12.
The burial will be preceded by a memorial service at Holy Cross Cathedral, opposite Lagos City Hall, by 10am.
It will be a family affair, said a family member.
Burying the doctor’s ashes will be the family’s way of letting her have a marked grave which future generations would remember.
There will also be a night of tributes in honour of the heroine, who is a great-granddaughter of Nigeria’s foremost nationalist and first politician, Dr Herbert Macaulay, who lived from 1864 to 1946.
