Boko Haram Driven Out of Annexed Villages

After killing hundreds and driving thousands of villagers from their homes in Damboa, Gwoza and other villages on the fringes of Borno State, Nigeria, Boko Haram terrorists effectively seized a portion of Nigerian territory and hoisted their flag. Fierce fighting in the area followed soon after, on August 6, as the Nigerian military entered with tanks and helicopters to reclaim the territory. But the villagers may not return to their homes from their hideouts on mountains near the Cameroon border anytime soon.
